Hollywood Beach and Wynwood Art District
A few weekends ago I had the sweet luxury of being kid-free for the weekend. I decided to visit my cousin in Miami whom I hadn’t seen since Thanksgiving. Rumor had it that this particular weekend the Covid curfew would be lifted and as someone who hadn’t enjoyed Miami nightlife in years, I was excited to be there.
My cousin and I spent the day at Hollywood Beach, ate some delicious Mexican food at Mamacita’s and enjoyed the awesome ambiance all along the strip. I grew up in a beach town in New York and despite having a beautiful boardwalk, clean beaches and several good restaurants along the beach, I’ve always resented the fact that it isn’t more… lively. In Hollywood Beach there were people dancing on the strip, rollerblading, riding cool different bikes and even enjoying fruity cocktails along the water. I was also pleasantly surprised with how clean and blue the water was. The pictures just don’t do it justice..
At night we made our way to Wynwood Walls in the Wynwood Art District. Wynwood Walls is an urban graffiti museum born out of the need to showcase street art and show respect to graffiti artists from all over the world. Since 2009, the walls have included over 50 artists representing 16 countries covering over 80,000 square feet of walls.
I will definitely visit Hollywood Beach again with the girls. I think they would really love the art district as well.
Have you ever visited Hollywood Beach or Wynwood Walls?
