Our Trip to Disney- Part One: Magic Kingdom
As I was going through photos this past weekend I realized that (once again), I never shared our trip from Disney World. We visited Disney back in February and I never got around to even posting the photos- there was just so many. We visited 3 parks in 3 days; Magic Kingdom, EPCOT and Animal Kingdom. I thought I’d share the trip in a 3-part series. This post is all about our first day at Disney visiting Magic Kingdom.
February was Julia’s birthday but it was also my cousin Giovanna’s birthday and she is a huge Disney fan. Luckily for me, she knows the ins and outs of the parks so when she invited us along to help celebrate her birthday, we jumped on it.
(See how we celebrated Julia’s 7th birthday here).
We stayed at Disney’s Art of Animation resort and the girls loved it, especially all the unique décor. We stayed in the Lion King family suite and it was so fun.
Naturally, as soon as we entered the park and snapped up some pics, we were all starving. Luckily, my cousin made reservations for us at Liberty Tree Tavern which is a colonial-style restaurant serving all the Thanksgiving fix-ins (my dream). We feasted on pot roast, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, mac-n-cheese… you name it. Dessert was pretty amazing too.
The first ride was, of course, the Haunted Mansion, and since there was definitely a bit of a wait, we snapped up some more pics. After the Haunted Mansion we headed to It’s a Small World. I felt the urge to visit all the classics and even though we didn’t get to do everything, we were able to do a lot of what we wanted to do.
I’ve been to Disney a handful of times before (mostly as a kid) but being there for their 50th celebration AND being there with the girls for the first time was so surreal. I had a lot of “pinch me” moments and I must have taken about 100 photos of just the castle alone. I wanted to document every part of our trip. It was so beautiful and I felt so happy and lucky to be there during this special time.
By far one of the best dining experiences was going to Be Our Guest for dinner. Guests are seated in the Beast’s enchanted castle and it is absolutely gorgeous, complete with beautiful chandeliers, baroque decor and snow-filled windows. Beast made several appearances throughout dinner and it was show-stopping. This was one of those moments where I felt like a big kid myself. Unfortunately it was a little dark and the few photos I took were both dark and blurry. Still, a great Disney dining experience. The girls loved the dessert where they got to paint their treat with edible paints.
After dinner, it was time to make our way to the castle for the fireworks show. We were able to get a great spot and everyone was so excited once the show began. Being there for this very special Disney celebration was so magical. I hope the girls remember this trip for a long time.
As I mentioned, I took so many pictures of the castle, especially during their fireworks show but the photos just don’t do it justice. Disney will be having their 50th Anniversary Celebration, which kicked off in October 2021, all the way through March 2023- that’s an 18-month long celebration! So, if you’re a Disney fan, I’d highly recommend vising the parks during this very special time.
Have you visited Disney during their 50th celebration or are you planning to go?
