Dipping Our Toes Into the Water
Like so many, we are completely done with being at home and have been craving some outdoor time. Last week we decided to check out the nearest beach and “test the waters” with what I imagine will be our new normal. Although the beaches are now starting to open up, a lot of amenities aren’t completely open to the public; restaurants, parks, restrooms, etc.
The girls and I walked along the water and the they made sandcastles while I soaked in the hot Florida sun. It was just what we needed, a short respite from the day-to-day of quarantine life, homeschooling and (me) attempting to work from home. A goal I had last summer was to visit as many Florida beaches as we could. We visited some but I definitely took it for granted that this is something I can do whenever. This year, after everything has been turned upside down for so many, so many plans cancelled and put on hold, I’m intending to shoot for that goal again, within reason and with necessary precautions of course.
As you would imagine, just sitting on the beach feels like a huge milestone and I tell myself not to take this for granted. Our little afternoon at the beach is short-lived but I’m looking forward to making more progress with opening things back up and getting back to normal- whatever that may look like now.
How do you feel about beaches and other places slowly opening back up?
