Sun-N-Fun Lagoon
One of the places we visited when my mom was in town for Spring Break was Sun-N-Fun Lagoon in Naples. We visited with the girls last summer so we knew it’d be fun- really, what’s not fun about a water park?
I will say, water parks with small children are a little nerve wracking, but with them getting bigger, added swim lessons and more confidence in the water, I don’t need to be such a nervous wreck. It also helps that this water park (as they all should be) is big on safety so it made for a much more relaxed day.
Sun-N-Fun Lagoon truly has something for everybody in the family. They have 5 water slides, a large four-feet deep pool with “water falls”, a tadpole pool , or kiddie area and my favorite, a lazy river.
Mom and I got first choice (because we’re the moms) and headed over to the lazy river, or Sunny’s River, which has 1,250 linear feet and varies between 8 and 10 feet wide. You also have the option to get soaked, or not. I, mistakenly, decided that it would be fun to get soaked with Lucy in my tube and that proved to be a bad idea. She had a total meltdown!
When we came across the Turtle Cove I told Olivia that she should see if she can make it across. Older kids were attempting to cross the lily pads simply by running across (and not getting very far- but it was fun to watch). Olivia was scared at first and then decided that if she goes slowly, and crawls over them instead, she can make it across. And, she did. Over and over. One of my favorite parts of the day was watching her go out of her comfort zone and try something different. By the last time across the lily pads, she had so much confidence and her face was beaming with pride. She was enjoying herself and even had bystanders cheering her on.
Julia and Lucy were also little warriors in the water. They kept referring to themselves as mermaids and, aside from a few head butts from Lucy that day, it truly was an awesome day.
