5 Power Breakfasts To Fuel Your Day
I've started getting serious about upgrading my morning routine and a huge part of that is how I fuel myself for the day with a power breakfast. If my waistline wouldn't be affected by it, I would probably eat a stack of pancakes everyday. Unfortunately, not only does a pancake diet add pounds but it also doesn't give me the energy I need to sustain myself for a productive day. After experimenting with a few different breakfast combinations, I've found a combo that I can get excited about and that gives me some fuel.
Oatmeal and Fruit
My go-to power breakfast. I love oatmeal and so do my girls. I like to grind the oats in a blender before I cook them so that my oatmeal comes out nice and creamy. I also add a little sweetener, like coconut sugar or brown sugar and some cinnamon. I usually make a big pot and there's hardly any left over.
Fruit Smoothie
I love a smoothie for breakfast, and when made right, it's more than enough to get you through your morning. Some of my staples are bananas and peanut butter, blueberries and strawberry smoothies. When I need extra fuel or if I'm getting a workout in, I add some whey protein for added fuel.
Egg and Avocado Toast
I've been trying to add more eggs into my mornings since I've started working out more and it's definitely helping with my energy levels. Since I buy avocados buy the boatloads, there's always plenty to eat.
Muesli
I've made this for my husband before he goes to work and he says how it's one of the few meals that keeps him full until lunch time. That's a big endorsement coming from a man who's 6'3 and works a physical job all day long. Muesli is a true power breakfast!
Coconut Pancakes
You didn't think I would give up pancakes altogether, did you? While I'm laying off the more fattening ones, I'm learning to make a healthier version of my favorite breakfast food. Recently we've been making coconut pancakes, using coconut flour instead of pancake mixes. They're just as filling, a lot lighter and I consider them a power breakfast because they allow me to "cheat" and still indulge in the food I love.
