Not Without My Coffee

SouthWest Florida Reading Festival

We decided to check out the Southwest Florida Reading Festival after seeing a flyer from Olivia's school.  I figured it'd be something fun to check out but to be honest, it was way better than I expected!

I was expecting a stale library and perhaps a librarian-type person reading books to the kids.  Quick, boring and we'd go home quickly after.  Instead, we were greeted with a bunch of tents, tons of friendly staff, food vendors, arts and crafts and- the girls' favorite- snow cones.

My inner kid (read:nerdy kid) was overjoyed.  Each child received one free book of their choice.  Naturally, that was my favorite part.  I'm encouraging Olivia to read chapter books so  she set off finding her pick.  Julia chose the book "It's Not Fair" and for Lucia, we chose a hard-covered book about the rainbow so I can teach her the colors.

Between listening to guest authors read their best-seller books, the food vendors and of course, snow cones, we had a blast.  We will definitely be coming back next year!
