The New and Improved Calm and Restful Bedtime
This is a sponsored post. All opinions are my own.
The past few weeks bedtime has been completely chaotic in our house. We usually try to get the girls to start winding down around 8 pm and hopefully soundly sleeping by 8:30 pm. Wishful thinking, right? Lately, when it's time to get ready for bed, the girls become extra playful, goofy and even after we've tucked them in and have had "lights out" they're giggling and getting up several times to avoid staying in bed. On the one hand, I think it's really sweet how playful they are and I sometimes laugh when they come up with every excuse imaginable to avoid bedtime- it's like a slumber party every day. But on the other hand I have to stick to our bedtime routine especially for Olivia who has to wake up early for school the next day.
I've used Hyland's products since Olivia was a baby. I love that their products are homeopathic and I've had great results with their other baby products so when I was looking for a calming tablet, I chose their Calm and Restful tablets. When I first mentioned the tablets to my husband, he thought it was a sleeping pill for kids. No, these calming tablets don't knock your kid out. What they do is help them get in a restful state so they can fall asleep easier. Here are some benefits I've noticed with both of mytoddlers since taking the tablets:
They Calm Down Before Bed Like I mentioned, I like to have a bit of a wind down period before bed and these tablets have helped close that window. Instead of the typical bedtime scenario where the girls are being loud and extra playful, they're much more relaxed. We can actually all sit down quietly and read a book (like a normal bedtime routine) without them turning into Gremlins.
They Stay In Bed It was becoming more and more normal for the girls to wake up in the middle of the night, for random things; they needed to use the bathroom, they were thirsty, or, Iike I'm sure a lot of parents can attest to; they would literally stand at our bedside quietly, looking at us while we slept. Yes, a little creepy. I feel like the tablets help them get to sleep and actually stay asleep.
No Morning Grogginess Again, these aren't kids' sleeping pills. The girls wake up just like normal- ready to take on their days (and complaining about having "nothing to wear.")
I know a lot of parents who would hesitate at the thought of a sleeping tablet but, aside from naturally getting calm and to sleep, I've noticed no other side-effects with the tablets. What I have noticed, and am loving, is laying in bed, noticing it's quite early and extra quiet in the house. That's when we notice the girls have put themselves to sleep all on their own. Now, this is the kind of stuff parents dream of!
